Ok i know its a bit early but, what's everyones opinions on the new material? Will the new album be better than Finelines?? Thats a killer question to ask so early on and baring in mind Finelines is an absolute classic.
The newer songs still have that MV sound but the production, drums and guitar sounds are all differnent. Majorly due to a new producer which can make a hell of a difference. The bass sounds a lot fatter in the newer tunes as well. Overall they're kicking out a different sound from songs like Infintile and Losing Touch which is cool to hear.
Opinions???? Can Finelines be topped??? |

Great Question.
Just been listening to Finelines, going through the tracks.
The new tracks without a doubt have got that MV sound to them, but all the new tracks we've heard are harder than really anything on Finelines.
But I guess without hearing the complete new album we can't really tell.
Im sure the new album have tracks that standout like Infantile (which, Im listening to now... still a true true classic) and others.
I think the new albums going to prove to be alot harder and wont dissapoint according to what we have heard already, which are unfinshed Demo versions which sound amazing....
Only time will tell, but I have no doubt that the album will be a big hit. _________________

This album seems in a completely different league to Finelines, i'm not even going to compare the albums ever. The new stuff sounds so different, but so My Vitriol-ised at the same time. I love it, i dont know if i can obsess about it as much as Finelines, but we shall see. _________________

If "We've Lost Our Way" is any indication of what the new record is going to sound like, "Finelines" may just be dethroned.
It's definitely a harder sound, but even more mesmerizing at the same time. They've expanded their range, I think, with the inclusion of piano and guitar synths that, for once, don't present themselves so bluntly that the listener is compelled towards eye-rolling. Altogether beautiful to behold.
They need to decide on a title for this fabled "new record," though, so I can at least have something to scream at random people. |

Well then upon hearing war of the worlds and we`ve lost our way.
They are both fantastic tracks, Im willing to say this album is going to be far superior to the first but in the same respect maybe they could both be great but different and live happily together. BUT also you guys need to remember the fact that they are NEW songs, anything in life thats new can make people exaggerate slightly as to how good they are.
My final thoughts are that they are never going to beat some of the songs off finelines - everybody has there favourites and they will always remain your favourites and that will never change _________________ We hope that your rules and wisdom choke you. |

I remember reading somewhere that this new album will have longer instromental intro's because they dont have any shitty label suits telling them to cut them down, which is frankly rather good to hear. I definatly read this somewhere im not just making it up haha.
I can see a broader range of songs coming out of this record as well, with the inclusion of maybe some slower songs and some other instroments being used.
On a similar note....fans of Oceansize will know that Chris Sheldon produced their first album as he did with MV but on the 2nd record that they had a different producer it sounded totally different and heavier. Maybe we'll see that here. Having two albums sound exactly the same would be a massive faux par on their behalf i think. |

Re: which album will be better, I honestly believe this band to be one of the best ever, so if the rest of the follow-up to "Finelines" is as good as the demos we've heard, I have another band like Nirvana to heap ungodly amounts of praise upon. So even if the style is slightly different, it's like comparing "Nevermind" and "In Utero" -- both are f*****g amazing albums.
As for the label suits thing, yeah... back in the day I remember reading about how MV had to fight tooth and nail against their management to be able to release "Finelines" in the form we have it in today (with all the segues and instrumental portions) because that sort of thing wasn't "commercially viable" enough. God forbid someone would have to sit through 16 tracks of solid brilliance...
Also, I'm not sure if they're still signed to the same label or not. I thought they were, but there was a shake-up over at East/West or Infectious during which people weren't sure if MV was going to be smothered in the red tape.
But whatever. It seems that is all in the past, and that's a good thing. |

They are with Warners in the UK and Sony in the US. The whole Warner taking over every bloody label in the world was nothing but trouble for a lot of acts. They suck. |

Hey Im new here.
I got Finelines when it came out and then MyVitriol seemed to dissapear, it wa sonly tonight that i realised that they were still together and recording. I heard the new Demo and it's amazing. I cant wait for the album and to see them live for the first time.
My favourite MV songs are probably , cemented shoes, losing touch, always your way.
Any ideas when the album will be out? _________________ We're falling at the feet of things that we can't escape |
