does anyone know Som's and Seth's pedal set up?

I no som uses the digitech whammy, such a pedal... and that they both use chorus and delays but which ones in particular?

Yo, good question. Something ive debated for a long time myself actually but from what i gather...


Som uses Digitech Xp100, DD-5, DD-5, Boss Chorus, Digitech Space Station xp300 and distortion through his marshall amp i think.

Seth uses a vast aray of Boss pedals, nothing to out of the ordinary.

Thats a good site actually. Obviously there's not a great deal there but what i've taken from it has been very helpful. Maining in working the songs out. I can play pretty much all of Finelines now thanks to that.

would you be able to post the tabs for "Losing Touch" and "Deadlines" please?

i can play "always: your way" and "the gentle art of choking", two killer songs, and i'm working on tabing "war of the worlds"

i had most of deadlines tabed but its those effects that make that wee bit harder...

do u no anywhere that still sells the whammy 1? the one som uses, i'm after one.

Would u happen to have the full tabs for:

"oh father" (i've worked out the main rythem stuff)
"static" (just the lead guitar)
"breakfast"

Well, Oh Father, Static and Breakfast are all covers so i'm sure there are tabs for those out there. try www.mx-tabs.net thats a good one.

As for Cemented Shoes i've not really worked that out yet. Its a Capo on 2nd and mainly power chords job really.

Pedals buying wise. If you want to get an Xp100 Whammy or a xp300 Space Station then i would suggest ebay. Thats pretty much where i get all my gear from and they have some good deals if you can find them.

mm....... kinda good advice going on here with the pedals.

Som only used his amp if you noticed at the islington gig, but he had this thing attached to his guitar as well, which matt bellamy used to use. This is a roland multi effects system.... check out pictures on this site...... it is like a triangle thing!

ebay is great for pedals........ but all i can say is good luck finding the digitech spacestation they went out of production years ago, and are very rare...... i saw one go for 300 squid....... and theyre not all tht anyways so beware!

Hehe, my band do alot of MV covers. The cemented shoes tab is on www.mx-tabs.net

It is pretty easy. Im the drummer, but me and the guitarist can do a mad duet of Always:your way.

Hehe, that's my tab Smile

One of the 'The Gentle Art of Choking' tabs is mine as well, so check it out. For some strange reason, this 'fretrunner' chap's stolen my 'Gentle Art...' tab.

One thing you've got to remember with MV is that they change the tuning from studio version > live version sometimes... For example, they might have the capo an extra fret up when they play something live. This is seen in 'Losing Touch', 'Cemented Shoes', 'Ode To The Red Queen' - all of these songs have their pitch heightened by at least a semitone from the studio versions.

I dunno about the equipment information on that site, but the tunings are definitely accurate, because that's the live tunings that Som posted on the old MV forum. However, these are the LIVE tunings, so expect to lower the pitch by a semitone or two for playing along to the studio versions of 'Losing Touch' (capo 1st fret instead), 'The Gentle Art of Choking' (remove the capo, or don't tune the guitar up one whole step), 'Cemented Shoes' (capo 1st fret instead).

If anyone needs tabs for anything, give us a shout and I'll see if I can work something out for you.
