f*****g great, f**k the UK fans, f**k the album, lets just waste our time on pointlessly trying to crack the US market.
My Vitriol are my favorite band because they are different, the only way theyre going to get to any huge level of success is to sound just like everyone else, when that happens, they will cease to be my favourite band. _________________

wow. Am happy for the American fans. Hoping that some UK shows follow soon (cuz judging from that map thing on myspace, most of MV's die-hard fans are in the UflippinK!!)
Completely agree that it would totally suck if they end up sounding like everyone else, just to break the American market. I hope that doesn't happen though...
Still great to have some news at least |

Great news even if the shows are in the US, atleast we now know that the band are still alive and possibly one step closer to coming back home with a new album and shit loada shows.
One thing i want to know is what the current lineup looks like!! _________________ Wide open spaceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee |

Think about it though, making waves in the States might help cause some ripples over here and in Europe to emphasise the fact that they're back (well, when they'll be back). Ideally a good record deal in the States should allow them to retain their creative integrity while having some corporate clout behind them since they have an thriving underground scene - which we don't. _________________

I agree with you in spirit, but take it from a Midwestern USA My Vitriol fan: if they EVER came to my town I would go see them. So far I doubt that's happened.
I also think that if there was a strong marketing push, MV would be quite viable in the US. They get described as sounding "Foo Fighters"-ish all the time, and the Foos are probably the most successful and long-running mainstream alt-rock band in America right now. And we all know how much better My Vitriol is than the Foo Fighters (although they are also good).
Look on the bright side: if they get a good US record contract and people that don't water them down into something terrible, it can only mean good things for the band.
On the other hand if they start to feel record exec pressure, there's always South Africa. Dave Chapelle can keep them company. |

Finelines was described as being "Foo Fighters"-ish. I don't think the new stuff can be. Its heavier, darker, moodier. Not "epic" (the word I most frequently use to describe the Foo Fighters, and Finelines funnily enough). I think they'll find it harder to crack the US with this album then it would hvae been with Finelines.

A bit foo-ish, yeah.
Also agree with a lot of the other stuff thats bin said. I think it will be hard to crack America with this album, from the sounds of things so far... but good luck to em tho! Hope the American shows go well. Just glad to hear that they are still out there
I also reckon its qute unlikely for MV to let any record company change their music now. After working on their album for 4 years, it really wouldn't make sense to change it all now. Hope not any way
(p.s: lynch: i actually did clap for a few seconds) |

One sort of idea is they could warm up for the US dates over here with a short tour. They certainly won't want to go over there and try to impress people without getting a couple of warm up gigs under their belt. _________________

Well, a few people were also saying they sounded more like Muse with the new album. I don't agree, but Muse didn't do too shabby with "Absolution" here in the States. I still "Hysteria" or "Time Is Running Out" on the radio every once in awhile. |
